Introducing Delamotte, founded in 1760 in Le Mesnil-sur-Oger, a grand cru village located in la Côte des Blancs, Champagne Delamotte works this enchanting terroir to grow chardonnay, the only white grape variety used to make champagne.
Like its senior sibling, Delamotte NV Brut is comprised of fruit sourced largely from the most lauded Grand Cru on the Côte des Blancs, Mesnil-sur Oger.
As always, the little sibling to Salon delivers. A mesh of home turf Mesnil-sur-Oger with fruit from other lauded Grand Crus, Avize, Cramant, Oger, Chouilly and Oiry, all six Grands Crus of the Cote des Blancs.
Delamotte Rosé boasts a salmon-pink robe with copper hues beneath which sparkles a staggeringly complex, elegant and structured wine.
A legendary wine – one that sparkles. Salon is a unique champagne. Defined by its singularity since the very beginning, this exceptional wine is the champagne of a single terroir: the Côte des Blancs; a single cru: Le Mesnil-sur-Oger; a single grape variety: Chardonnay; a single year: that of a great vintage; and of one man: Eugène-Aimé Salon.
The 2013 is the most powerful, dense young Salon I have ever tasted. Champagne of mind-bending complexity, the 2013 possesses tremendous mid-palate intensity and power from the very first taste.
Upcoming Destinations
Piemonte: abutting the Swiss border, the sub-alpine Piemonte is responsible for Italy’s most transparent, complex and beguiling wines, be it Barbaresco, Barolo or Nebbiolo from the cooler Alto Piemonte, a tumble of limestone, sand and ancient turrets.
The most northern of the world’s great wine regions is at a fulcrum as mainstream houses parry the influence of smaller growers and their drier, more tensile expressions. The result is arguably the most exciting of all the great regions. manifest as a bona fide cold climate, the geological dominance of chalk and vinous wines marked by site, rather than froth marked by variable degrees of sweetness as in the past.
A marginal climate born of the Roaring Forties and the Arctic drift, as the expanse of the Tasman meets dark volcanic soils, giant earth worms and close planted vineyards of Australia’s finest Pinot Noir and Chardonnay.
Italy’s answer to Provence’s lifestyle meme, Tuscany is the land of Visconti and Sting, but more notably the world’s second most widely recognised wine in Chianti (the first, in case you are wondering, is Bordeaux), as well as richer idioms of Sangiovese in Brunello and its brighter sibling, Rosso di Montalcino.
